55th Annual Family Reunion

From Charles Peters:

Announcing
The descendants of William Christopher Peters, their spouses, children, and special friends will gather at Levi Jackson State Park, Shelter number two, Sunday, June 24, 2012, 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.to participate in our 55th annual family reunion. Levi Jackson State Park is located south of London. You can enter the park from either U.S. 25 South or from Hwy 229. Note that Shelter 2 is a change from last year and is on the right just down the street from last year’s location (if you enter the park from U.S. 25). Larger open area for our children to play.
Planned Activities
1. Family fellowship.
2. Potluck Lunch – You bring your favorite dishes (full of food of course) and the Peters’ family will enjoy it. For those of you who are traveling and cooking is not convenient, you can purchase something locally (KY Fried Chicken, Famous Recipe, Kroger and Wal-Mart Deli’s are nearby). Paper plates, cups, napkins, and eating utensils will be provided. We also have serving utensils so you won’t have to worry with this little detail. Bring a little extra potluck and let’s hope we set a high attendance record this year.
We plan to begin lunch promptly at 1:00 p.m. Plan to arrive as early as possible to permit time for the registration process, opening remarks, and food preparation to be completed prior to the 1:00 p.m. time for lunch.

Anita and I will arrive around 10:00 a.m. to begin setting up for the day’s activities, so you all come as early as you like and let’s get our fellowship started.
3. Annual horseshoe pitch tournament, coordinated by Barry Peters. Begins immediately after lunch. With the new shelter location, there is plenty room for other games such as: Corn Toss, basketball, etc.
4. Door prize drawing at approximately 4:00 P.M. Family members have been very thoughtful to bring door prizes and I’m sure you will again this year.
5. Auction – To help with reunion expenses, we look forward to your bringing a special item that would be good for the auction. Family handmade items are always good.
6. There is a playground play set and basketball goal at the shelter location. The park has a public swimming pool, Mountain Life Museum, McHargue Water Mill, putt putt golf (within walking distance), motor home camp sites, etc.
We will be using the shelter house for our event, so you may want to bring folding chairs for added seating space under the trees (if you want to sit under the trees). The park shelter house has seating available for approx 150. All of our planned activities will take place at the shelter house location which will allow you the convenience of socializing while watching or playing horseshoes, and also supervising your children while they play.

2012 W.C. Peters Family Reunion

From Charles Peters:

The W.C. Peters Family Reunion is scheduled to happen on Sunday, June 24, 2012, Levi Jackson State Park, London KY.

This year's reunion will be located in Shelter House #2, which is a change from the past 2 years. Shelter 2 is larger, has bathrooms within the shelter, the ground surrounding the shelter is flat and safer for our children to play, has swings, a basketball goal, 2 horseshoe pits, etc.

It is closer to the Camping Park and the Putt Putt Golf Course. Shelter #2 is located just down the the street on the right from Shelter #1 where we were last year.

The downside to this change in location is that it does cost more to rent for a full day, but I believe it is a good move since they are still using porta pots at shelter 1 and shelter 2 has a better play area, and the shelter is larger.

Mark your calendars and make your plans to attend this year's W.C. Peters Family Reunion.

Received this invitation from Monica Alvarez today. The Peters family is invited to this surprise 50th wedding anniversary celebration for David and Faith de la Peña. The following is the message from Monica:

I hope that you're doing well on this glorious Sunday. I wanted to see if you could get this invitation/announcement out to family on your address lists and the Peters family blog. It's a little late. As of right now, they have no clue regarding this incredible surprise. We've tried to mail a lot of invitations, but realize that we don't have everyone's addresses. We don't want to leave anyone out. We know many won't be able to make it, but wanted to ensure that they can be with us in spirit.

Update on William Peters

The following was received today from Uncle William...

If you have wondered where I have been, Let me explain.
Last Tuesday the 2nd. I went to the hospitaln for a check up. Well they kept me for two days while they made some test. And what they found was cancer in my liver in several places. Now I am in the nursing home where I was before and where Charlotte was.I go for a c-t scan on Thur. The cancer in my liver is different from the one in my throat so it did not spread from my throat, fact is they don't know where it came from. I don't what action will be taken, But I have Ralph here to manage things so I am in good hands, Charlene is with me also. I get so tired. The address here is

Prayer for Uncle William Peters

The following news about Uncle William was forwarded to me by Charles Peters who heard from Willa Benge... (Please remember Uncle William in your prayers.)

Forwarded by Charles Peters:
William had a rough time with his last treatment for his throat. They did some tests, and his liver results were way askew. They did a biopsy and found cancer several places on his liver. They don't think it came from his throat cancer, but he is scheduled for a PET scan soon. Anyway, they took him from the hospital back to Valley View Nursing Home. (I think that is the name of the home where he was before.)

Lori and Ralph asked me to let you know so you can inform the others.

Love, Willa

Good News About Uncle William Peters

Received this good news from Uncle William Peters:

Just arrived home after a 84 day absence. I fell and broke my hip on Christmas Eve. Spent 3 days in the hospital and 81 days in a nursing home - the same one that Charlotte was in.

Charlene is here with me and will stay a week or so until I can move around safely.

Good to be home.

Daddy's Little Girl

There's no doubt that Heather Townley (daughter of Grant Reed and granddaughter of Fay Peters Reed) is a "daddy's girl." But be warned - don't do anything to cross her!

Heather

Heather is a member of the Glass City Rollers, the flat track roller derby team from Toledo. She's a blocker and is already gaining a reputation for being a real bruiser. Grant proudly reported that she had two penalties called on her in one game - and you have to be pretty rough to get a penalty called on you in the sport of roller derby!
